Center helps rape survivors restart lives
East Congo has been called the “rape capital of the world” — a place where rape is used as a weapon of war. To support women who are victims of sexual violence and those abandoned by their husbands and families, the United Methodist Church in eastern Congo established the center in 2018.
Church builds shelter for orphans in Congo
With a $25,000 grant from the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries, the church constructed an orphanage. Some children and youth formerly housed by United Methodist members will live in the new building.
